Apple and Onion Pizza with thyme and Balsamumm drizzle

Preparation: 15 min. / Cooking: 9 à 12 min. (depending on oven) / Servings: 2 à 4

In this recipe, apples become sweet and tender and onions are savory with thyme. Pecans add a nice crunch but Balsamumm adds a pop of flavour, it truly makes it better!

1 pizza dough

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

½ cup pecan, chopped

1 Apple thinly sliced

1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp. fresh thyme leaf

1 tbsp. lemon juice

1 tbsp. olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Balsamumm, to serve

Slide your pizza pan into the center of the oven and preheat to 260 ºC (500 ºF). Depending on the plate used, the preheating time may be longer or shorter: calculate approx. 45 minutes for a pizza stone; 15 to 20 minutes for a cast iron griddle; about 5 minutes for an aluminum plate; when the plate has reached its temperature, take it out of the oven (caution: very hot!).

Meanwhile, core the apple and slice it; put the slices in a bowl with the lemon juice.

When oven is ready, take out pan (be careful, it is very hot). Roll pizza dough on a floured surface and place on cast iron pan or any other pizza pan. Brush dough with olive oil and add mozzarella cheese.

Add apples, onions and pecans, salt, pepper to taste. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden.

Remove from oven. Serve immediately with fresh thyme and Balsamumm.
